The Lonely Wild make their home in Los Angeles, CA. I don’t know the origins of the name, and the band members may very well be originally from Vermont, but to me it works for Los Angeles. Where there’s a lot of people, a lot of flashy lights, and a lot of cars, and where days and nights can get spun into memories that one can’t help but recall to be “wild.” Yet don’t let Los Angeles fool you. All of that flash and sparkle can conceal what can be one of the loneliest places in the world sometimes. So if that’s what their name’s about, then I get it. If not, well, their tunes still prove very useful in navigating ones’ own lonely wilderness, whenever you may need to sit and think a while.

They played three lovely tracks for us in the parking lot of the MXL Microphones factory. There were a bunch of us gathered around, sitting in our fold out chairs, sipping beers, and marveling at how blustery the day had become. I remember seeing the band standing beside their gear, smoking cigarettes into the wind, their kick-drum reads “The Lonely Wild,” it was a pretty picture. I snapped it in my head, and there it’s forever lodged. Amongst all of the other keep-safe worth images that I’ve stumbled upon in the wilderness. Consider this all soundtrack for your very own slide-show.
