We’d tried to get Gap Dream in The Van once before. They had opened up for The Orwells the night we filmed those dudes, and we figured we’d get 2 for the price of one, but it didn’t work out. Gap Dream had a prior engagement that was apparently more important then a Jam in the Van session that we gave one day’s notice on. Must have been a funeral or something the like, but they did mention that they were bummed that they couldn’t Jam in the Van. It’s always 50/50 when someone drops that on you. So it was cool that they were telling the truth and were stoked to reconnect with us in Santa Ana.

Turns out that Burgerama 2 was the better party, and the better party is always the best place for a Jam in the Van. For a night, the OC was the epicenter of cool. The Observatory was packed to the brim and both stages were rocking to the wee hours, and our lovely girl sat outside in the lot radiating a portion of that cool. One big ass cool forcefield over stank-ass Orange County.

Gap Dream came aboard after everyone was several beers deep. That’s how it should always be. The Jam Van is not a place for strict rules, save for a few. It’s a place for music and good times. Can’t stress that enough. When we get groups passing through that really grasp that message it makes the sessions all the more fun. To be honest, most get it, and that’s usually not an issue. You don’t have to twist many a musical arm to force them into a good time. However, there are some that really get it, and we tip our hats to those dudes, like Gap Dream, who embody good times. Because those are what we all should be searching for, and we’re lucky for any minutes of them that we get… Party on dudes.
